The Mice of Moonbeam Village
Pip and the Lost Boot
Page One: A New Home
It was a lovely morning in Moonbeam Village.
The birds were singing, the bakery smelled of warm bread, and the little church bell went DING DONG!
Down the cobbled street came a tiny brown mouse.
His name was Pip.
Pip was new to Moonbeam Village, and he was looking for somewhere to live.
He passed the bakery, the post office and the little stone bridge.
Then, beneath an old apple tree, he spotted something wonderful.
A great big GREEN Wellington boot!
It had a muddy toe, a worn-out heel and a buckle that had gone a little rusty.
Pip peeped inside.
“Oh, my whiskers!” he squeaked.
There was plenty of room for a tiny bed, a little table and even a cosy armchair!
Pip gave a happy little wiggle.
“This is PERFECT!” he cried.
And with that, Pip climbed inside his new home.
He didn’t know it yet, but his big green boot was about to cause a very big adventure!
